Our Reading from Genesis today speaks of the covenant between God and Noah. This takes place after the story of the flood.  At this time Noah and his family see a completely new world. It is then revealed that this covenant is not only with Noah but with all future descendants and every living creature.

As we begin Lent, this story of Noah drives home the message that this covenant involves every one of us and every living creature.  We are told that God will never bring destruction of creation again through the waters of a flood. This covenant is fulfilled through the life giving waters of Baptism where we receive new life and an everlasting relationship with the Lord.  May this relationship grow stronger each day as we continue our journey of life.
