Reflection: Body and Blood of Christ
Today as we celebrate the solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ it is hard to nail down one thought to reflect on given this past year's events. For two plus months we were not being able to attend Mass in person. Although we felt the loss of this privilege we knew that the sacrifice was for the good of all.
It was a year ago that we slowly began to return to Mass. Being nourished by the Body of Christ was so important. For many who still are not able to attend Mass they hunger to receive Communion. As more people become fully vaccinated we have a new understanding of what it means to reverence the Body of Christ, the people of God.
I long for the day when we will be able to drink of the Blood of Christ. The day in which we can fully accept Christ's invitation to eat his body and drink his blood.
